Five Reasons to Choose a Fly & Cruise Voyage

Fly from Punta Arenas to King George Island and begin your Antarctic journey in the South Shetland Islands

By avoiding one or both Drake Passage crossings by ship, Fly & Cruise can be especially appealing for travelers concerned about seasickness

Once in Antarctica, your journey continues aboard Ocean Nova, with just 70 guests on board for a more intimate small-ship experience

Zodiac cruising, guided shore landings, wildlife encounters, and expert-led exploration remain at the heart of the experience

Whether you want to avoid the Drake Passage by sea or simply prefer a different style of journey, Fly & Cruise offers a distinctive way to experience Antarctica

How Antarctica Fly & Cruise Voyages Work

1. Arrival in Punta Arenas

Your journey begins in Punta Arenas, the Chilean gateway city for Fly & Cruise departures. This is where the expedition comes together before heading south. Guests typically arrive the day before the flight to Antarctica, settle into their hotel, and attend a pre-departure briefing and gear check ahead of the next day’s flight. It’s a chance to prepare, meet fellow travelers, and get ready for the adventure ahead.

2. Fly to Antarctica

The next step is one of the most distinctive parts of the experience: your flight to Antarctica. From Punta Arenas, you’ll fly south to King George Island in around two hours. From there, you’ll continue to the shoreline and transfer by Zodiac to Ocean Nova, where your expedition begins. It’s a memorable arrival that sets the tone for the journey ahead.

3. Explore Antarctica

Once aboard Ocean Nova, the experience becomes a classic Antarctic expedition. Days are shaped by conditions and guided by the expedition team, with opportunities for Zodiac cruising, shore landings, wildlife encounters, and exploration of the Antarctic Peninsula. With just 70 guests onboard, the atmosphere feels personal and immersive – a small-ship experience designed to bring you closer to Antarctica’s landscapes, wildlife, and extraordinary sense of place.
